DIO Fest (aka Do-it-Ourselves Fest) is a music festival put together by a small group of people hell-bent on taking the corporate out of conventional music festivals. The whole event is a fundraiser to raise money for the Music Enrichment Program at Camp Krem. Just a little history, Camp Krem is the place that DIO Fest calls home –it’s also a non-profit outdoor facility with a 50+ year history of providing people with Special Needs a full program of recreation, education and adventure. The 3-day camping/music festival event, which is modestly priced at $99, is donating 100% of the profits to the program. Ya heard me right.
So what did DIO Fest entail?
- Whole lot of local musicians completely blowing people’s mind with their epic talent
- Friends and friends and friends
- Camping in the Santa Cruz Redwood Mountains overlooking acres of forest
- A crowd with less than 500 people
